AVYSL Coaches

Every AVYSL Program has different types of requirements for coaching as outlined below:

AVYSL Recreational Program Coaches - Coaches for our Spring and Fall recreational programs are selected by the programs’ Directors.  Recreational coaches do not need to complete the League’s coaching application.

Almaden FC Comp/Select Coaches - All coaches for the Almaden FC program are selected by and report to the Director of Coaching. AVYSL requires that all Comp and Select (Class 1 and Class 3) coaches must be licensed in accordance with the CYSA coaching license policy and follow the league guidelines for submitting a coach application.

AVYSL Comp/Select Grandfathered Program Coaches - Grandfathered competitive program coaches are AYVSL Board-approved and report to the Competitive Director. AVYSL requires that all Comp and Select (Division 3 and Division 1) coaches must be licensed in accordance with the CYSA coaching license policy and follow the league guidelines for submitting a coach application.

US Soccer "Best Practices"

The US Soccer Federation has an age-appropriate guide for coaching U-6 to U18.

All AVYSL coaches should please take a moment to review the US Soccer Best Practices information. Please make sure to read the introduction and then the age-appropriate information which corresponds to the age group you are coaching.  This information has been developed by our US National Team Coaches.
