About Devin Underwood
Devin’s love for soccer started when he was a sweeper at 5 years old in a recreational league. Devin’s wild style of ball control and his ability to dance around defenders earned him the nickname “Elvis”. At the U10 age level, Devin began playing competitive soccer for the Almaden Venom (part of AVYSL’s original "Select" program). When Devin got the ball everyone knew to push up and head to the box.
During the 2011-2012 season Devin was selected for the ’96 Boys Olympic Development Program (ODP) NorCal team. Devin played at the Region IV ODP Championships January 14-17, 2012 scoring 1 goal and assisting on another. As a Freshman, Devin made the Prospect High School Varsity soccer team.
The highlight of 2012 came when Devin was 1 of 10 finalists for US Youth Soccer 2012 Goal of the Year.
In the fall/winter of 2012, now a Sophomore, Devin was the starting Center Forward for Prospect High Varsity soccer team. To work on conditioning during the off-season, Devin also runs track for Prospect HS.
Devin’s skills have been nurtured and developed over the years by so many coaches, including Steve Redondo who came on as the Coach of Almaden FC ’96 Green one year ago. Devin credits and thanks all the amazing coaches and individuals that have mentored and developed him in to the player that Devin is today, and continuing to guide him toward a future that includes soccer.
