It is the parent’s responsibility to understand and follow the procedure below regardless of a player’s previous playing history.
Players who do not have a documented medical need are not allowed to play down an age group. Find your player’s true age group with the 2010/2011
Age Player Matrix.
AVYSL will grant a player’s request to play up one age group if the request procedure is followed and the following two requirements are met:
- The requested age group is a better soccer environment for the requesting player.
- There is acceptable space (see * below) in the requested age group to allow for the change.
Procedure:
First: Register your player for their true age group according to their birthday.
Process for Granting:
We will first consider whether the older age group is a better soccer environment for your child. If, after review of your completed Play-Up Request Form, we determine that the older age group is not the better soccer environment for your player, you will be notified as soon as that decision is made (before July 1st) and you have two options:
- Have your player remain registered in their true age group.
- Immediately withdraw your player from our league and receive a full refund.
If it is decided that the older age group is a better soccer environment, we will then determine whether there is acceptable space in the older age group. You will be notified of your player’s play-up request being granted or denied based on acceptable space by August 1st. If your request is denied because there is not acceptable space, you can choose one of the following options:
- Have your player remain registered in their true age group.
- Keep your player registered at their true age group, and have your player placed on the waitlist for the requested age group.
- Immediately withdraw your player from our league and receive a full refund.
Thank you for your interest in AVYSL!
* -Acceptable Space: means that adding a child to the age group does not move other players to a waitlist, nor make us increase the number of players on a roster higher than planned. We reserve the right to use our judgment in considering many variables when determining acceptable space.
