Assistant Coach Role

An Assistant Coach will be assigned to as many teams as possible in all age groups. The following are the responsibilities of this role:

1. Have High Attendance:
You are the Head Coach’s primary soccer support, and therefore should be able to make the majority of practices and games.

2. Complete Background Check / Fingerprint Process:
All adults selected for an on-field team leadership role need to submit fingerprints (one time only with our league) and consent to a CYSA background check (every year). See Coach Application Info page for complete details

3. Be Prepared to Coach:
Since you are on the players’ side on game day, and may be coaching in the absence of your Head Coach, you need to understand and abide by all Game Day Expectations (more info to follow).

4. Manage Team (U6 & U7 Age Groups Only):
There are no Team Managers assigned for these age groups. The Assistant Coach is expected to assist the Head Coach by performing the designated Team Manager responsibilities.

Note for Assistant Coaches in all age groups: Attendance at coaches meetings and training sessions is not mandatory, however you are welcome to attend any meeting or coaching training session. If your Head Coach or Team Manager cannot make the mandatory meeting associated with their team leader role, you may be asked to represent your team at these meetings.
