Officiating in AVYSL
  • You must be at the field no later than 30 min. before your match.  If for some reason you’re going to be late, it is your responsibility to contact the other members of your team and alert them.
  • Centers are to update their game reports within 24 hours after the match. Failure to update your game report in a timely manner may prevent you from accepting future games.  Game reports must be completed in order for you and your team to be paid.
  • All officials must have a RefPay account and have it link to Arbiter. If you don’t set up an account by December 31, all your funds go to me.
  • We will be paying officials every 2 weeks starting September 12, 2011
  • We have created a FAQ on Almadensoccer.org to answer the general questions. Please check the site before e-mailing me.
  • All Tournaments (Including The Halloween Classic) will be paid through RefPay this year.  Tournaments will be paid out same day.
  • Ranking is based on age and skill set, if you wish to advance to a higher ranking, please let me know and I will schedule you with an AVYSL mentor.
  • Please report any issues you have with players, parents, coaches, or other officials.   All reports will be held in confidence.
  • You must dress appropriately, Referee Shorts, (NO Soccer/basket ball shorts), Three stripe black socks, and black shoes + Your shirt needs to be tucked in.
  • You are to enforce Law 4 at all times.  This means NO Earrings.  Also, we DO NOT allow players to play with a hard cast.
  • Games will be posted 10 days in advance.   This means that games for Saturday September 10, will be posted Wednesday August 31 at 9 PM.
  • You will be allowed to turn-back your game without contacting me up to to 8 Days before the Match. The link will be in under the accepted date under Schedule.
  • Because we enforce the no cancelation rule with the teams (Teams have to pay officials if they change or cancel a game after Wednesday the week of the game), We will be enforcing the same with our officials.  If you cancel a game after Wednesday of the week of the game, you will be deducted the amount of that position from future earnings.   Exception will be handle case by case.
Recreational program 2011

When signing up for AVYSL recreational games, please be familiar with the rules that are posted on Almadensoccer.org under the reference section (modified rules).  It is important that we recognize Rec as a development league. Our goal here is to develop the players and new officials on understanding of the laws and honoring the game.  Please make it part of your pre-game to go over the basic rules with the coaches such as substitutions and offside.  Keep the following in consideration at each game:

  • Beginning of the season, Be a little relax on offside and have the AR’s speak to the players when they’re in an offside position.
  • While keeping the clock running, feel free to allow water breaks on hot days if agreeable by both coaches
  • If you come across a dominant player on the team, please record their name and jersey number in your game report.
  • If the game is lopsided, please work with coaches to make it a fair match.

AVYSL Bonus Programs

Unless otherwise stated, the following bonus programs are only applied during the fall season.

We Help With Your Annual Renewal Program ($40 bonus)

To be eligible for this bonus program you must complete the following:
  • Attend the Annual Meeting in August**
  • Complete 15 season games (does not include tournaments or jamborees)
  • Games cannot be combined with other bonus offers.
** Waiving this requirement is at the discretion of the assignor.

U8 Education Program ($50)

To be eligible for this offer you must be willing to educate as you officiate. You must educate players, parents, and coaches on the laws of the game. Failure to do this will remove you from the program and the bonus opportunity. To receive this offer you must complete the following:

  • For each 10 completed U8 matches, you will receive $50
  • Without impacting play, you must help educate the players on the laws
  • Prevent lopsided playing by working with the coaches.
  • Highlight dominant players by adding their name and jersey number in your game report
  • Games cannot be combined with other bonus offers.
