Fall 2008 Volunteer Policy
AVYSL requires every registered family to volunteer a minimum of three (3) hours performing selected services for the fall season. The League Volunteer Coordinator or your Team Volunteer Coordinator will contact families via e-mail only once or twice during the season, so please keep with spirit of the volunteer program and fulfill your hours early in the season. Families can ’buy out’ of this volunteer obligation while registering for a fee of seventy five dollars ($75).
If a family does not fulfill its volunteer obligation and has not paid the buy out, they will be charged the $60 buy out and next season’s buy out fee, in advance, at the next registration.
A minimum of three (3) hours of the following activities will satisfy the league’s volunteer requirement for the season. These services are in the nature of helping the entire league, rather than just one specific team.

NOTE: Certain of these volunteer activities involve FAR MORE THAN three (3) hours of time each season, including Coaches, Asst. Coaches, AVYSL Management positions, Age Group Coordinators and Field Coordinators.
Activities which solely benefit a team, and not the entire league, would NOT satisfy the league’s volunteer requirement. For example, setting up or taking down goals for practices or on game days, team mom, staying at the field for practice, etc. do NOT satisfy a family’s volunteer obligation. See also the AVYSL Child Safety Program. Helping at practices or games without being registered as a Coach or Asst Coach and completing ALL the Child Safety Program requirements will NOT satisfy the league volunteer obligation for the season.
If a family does not fulfill the AVYSL volunteer service requirement for the current season, this family would be charged the $75 Fall 2008 buy out fee, and will also be required to pay the next season’s buy out fee, in advance, upon registration. As the season progresses, it is each family’s responsibility to ensure its volunteer obligation is met by seeking out opportunities to assist the league through its Team Volunteer Coordinator and the League Volunteer Coordinator.
The selection of volunteer activities during online registration indicates only that you are offering to or are interested in performing that type of volunteer service, not that you are ‘confirmed’ for that activity. ALL volunteer services must be confirmed in advance through an appropriate AVYSL Board Member in order to receive volunteer credit.
