Almaden FC Development Academy - Recreation to Competitive Soccer Program

Almaden FC Development Academy Fall 2018

We are excited to announce that the popular RECREATION TO COMPETITIVE SOCCER PROGRAM - Almaden FC Development Academy - is now released and recreation coaches are now sending in their player nominations for the gifted and talented rec to comp soccer program for the 2013-2009 age groups.

The Development Academy acts as a development AND feeder program for Recreational soccer players into our Competitive program (Almaden FC) and will run over 3 weeks in the fall. The program will be split into two parts to replicate a week in the Almaden FC Program. There will be the practice session, closely resembling the environment of AFC and the game day which will work as practice games for players, playing multiple games against other players within the program.

This is a program for Gifted and Talented recreational soccer players with a view to preparing them for a potential entry into the competitive program, Almaden FC.

What is the Almaden FC Development Academy?

The Almaden FC Development Academy is a unique learning environment for boys & girls recreational players pre-selected 2013-2009. The Academy is designed for the holistic development of a players technical, tactical, physical and psychological attributes. In preparation for the possible transition from the recreational and junior programs into our competitive program, our pre-selected soccer players enter the Academy in their first steps to take their game to the next level establishing themselves on the Almaden FC Player Development Pathway.

What happens players after The AFC Development Academy?

The ambition of the Almaden FC Development Academy is to take the selected players from the Recreational and Junior soccer programs and transform them into ready-made, quality players for our Competitive program. Our competitive coaches, mentored by John, will be assisting with this learning process in the delivery of high-quality coaching ensuring that  AFC Development Academy players are more than equipped, not just to be the next wave of players to join Almaden FC but to push the club onto newer and higher competitive stages. It is from here that the Academy graduates will potentially move up and through the Almaden FC Player Development Pathway, being slowly introduced to the FC Bayern Munchen Curriculum in the next stages of their development.

What will my child learn in The AFC Development Academy?

Almaden FC's Technical Director, John Devine, has introduced a program that follows a progressive training model and playing pathway for 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, 7v7, 9v9 and  11v11 forms of the game.  The "Guided Discovery" coaching philosophy, as it is known, has been implemented in the foundation phase of development at Almaden FC, placing an emphasis on allowing young players to play small sided games, learning key soccer fundamentals and importantly playing without the pressure of winning. John's philosophy is a key step in the production of technically quality, tactically aware and intellectual soccer players who will take Almaden FC to the next level.
