Almaden Valley Youth Soccer Welcomes Three New Members

Almaden Valley Youth Soccer is pleased to announce three new additions to our club, Shane Carew (Almaden FC Collegiate Coordinator), Chris Strangio (Almaden FC Director of Coaching for 02-04 boys & girls Competitive programs) & Aine Mckeever (Marketing Manager). 

Under the leadership of Technical Director John Devine, Carew & Strangio will work directly with the Competitive & Premier boys & girls programs.

Collegiate Coordinator: Shane Carew

Shane will join Almaden as the first Collegiate Coordinator in the clubs history. We are very excited about this new role as it will provide our players with a useful resource and heightens the opportunity for our players to chase their dreams of playing collegiate soccer. 

Coaching Experience: 

Carew, a native from Ireland, has worked as an assistant coach for The San Jose Earthquakes Academy U16/U18 (2015-Present), The San Jose State Spartans (2014-2015) and Elon University (2013).  

Prior to his tenure at Elon University, he served as the Executive Director of Coaching for FC Carolina Alliance Youth Soccer Organization (FCCA) from 2008-2012. Carew oversaw all FCCA Soccer Programs including Tournaments, Classic, Challenge, Academy Munchkin, Pre-Academy and Goalkeeping.

Carew also served as the Director of Soccer Operations at the University of Charlotte and on the North Carolina Olympic Development Program (ODP) staff. 

He holds a USSF "A" soccer coaching license and a UEFA "B" license.

Playing Experience:

Carew's collegiate career in the US began at the University of Charlotte (2000-2002). He won many accolades during his time at Charlotte, including three-time All-Conference USA selection. He represented the Irish National Team at the 2003 World University Games in South Korea.

Carew also played professionally in his native Ireland with Shelbourne FC (98-00) and Kilkenny City (2004) and also with the US Long Island Rough Riders (2003). 

Director of Coaching (DOC): Chris Strangio

Chris will join the Directors of Coaching and will be responsible for the 02-04 boys & girls competitive programs.

Coaching experience:

Chris has coached many teams around the area of Almaden/San Jose including The SJ Earthquakes Youth Program", five years with CVYSL and over one year with Almaden Valley Youth Soccer League (AVYSL). 

Strangio currently holds a USSF National D License. 

Playing Experience

Strangio played for The Almaden Youth Premiere Club and has over 30 years playing experience at multiple levels. 

Marketing Manager: Aine Mckeever

A Public Relations & Communications graduate from Quinnipiac University, CT where she played Collegiate Division I soccer from 2010-2014 and earned several accolades including New England Coaches Selection All-First Team Player and Quinnipiac University Women's Soccer 2014 Team Player of the Year.

Back in Ireland, Mckeever represented her country at U15, U17 & U19 youth levels and also played in the Northern Ireland Women's Premiership League with YMCA Ladies FC.

We are excited to have Shane, Chris & Aine on board at Almaden Valley Youth Soccer and we look forward to seeing the club benefit from their hard work and dedication.
